The Ultimate 2023 Holiday Gift Guide for Florists and Flower Friends

This time of year, many of us are on the search for the perfect gifting items. I thought it would be fun to offer a “Sue edit” of several of my favorite floral related finds. These make perfect gifts for flower loving friends, family, and as treats to reward yourself as you celebrate the close of another year.

MIDDLE KINGDOM

I love this company so much! The bud vases are perfectly sized and come in the best colors and forms.

BLU DOT PLANTER

I am always on the hunt for well made, well designed, long lasting home and studio decor items that are also reasonably affordable. Blu Dot, located in Minneapolis, is one of my favorite sources for all things home. I’m obsessed with their ‘plot’ planters, and have two in marine blue.

WHEELER MUNROE TOOL BELT

This may be the very best purchase I’ve ever made! I’ve had my Wheeler Munroe belt for over 10 years, and it just keeps getting better with age. It sits comfortably on the hip and holds all the essential florist tools. Treat yourself or a flower loving friend!

MERAKI SHEARS

I am a floral knife lover, but always have these shears on hand ( I like the 6.7” blade length ) for tackling branches and tough, thick stems. I adore the color options and efficient, comfortable cutting capability.

CLEVER BEAST SOLID PERFUME

I adore this petite, beautifully packaged solid perfume and keep it in my purse at all times. With notes of tomato vine and lemon verbena, it’s the perfect gift and winter pick me up for gardeners and flower lovers.

BIG DIPPER CANDLES

I love beeswax candles, and prefer their natural amber color, but this company also makes a variety of colors, which is wonderful for elevating floral compositions. American-made and all natural, this is a favorite go-to candle resource.

DRAM

Ok, this one is loosely flower related, but I had to share! I’ve been searching for a bevvy that tastes “grown up” but without alcohol or sugar, and DRAM makes several delicious options. I’m especially fond of their mushroom cola made with adaptogenic mushrooms for immunity and brain health.

KREETA KREETA FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY PRINTS

I adore all of the frame worthy floral prints by this Finnish photographer. Her love for flowers is obvious and inspiring.

ASRAI GARDEN

I love every object in this Chicago jewel box of a store. I love that they ship all over the country! I especially love this lapis inlaid folding knife, fit for any stylish florist.

HARRIET GOODALL WEAVING COURSE

Winter is the perfect time to study and learn new skills. This is a favorite find that teaches weaving skills; approachable for novices.

HARMONY HARVEST FLOWER FROGS

I’m a real fan of the hairpin style flower frogs, and love the cost savings offered when you purchase these “misfits.” They may not be absolutely perfect, but they still work wonderfully!

MY BOOKS!

I am so proud to have two, “The Art of Wearable Flowers” and “Flowers for All”. Both are meant to celebrate the practice of designing flowers and elevate the profession of floristry.

“A SWEET FLORAL LIFE”

This beautifully photographed book is my favorite of 2023. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and spending a little time with the author, Natasja Sadi, in her beautiful Amsterdam home studio. She is absolutely brilliant and this book is so much more than just a “floral design” book. Her unique perspective is a gift to us all.

This holiday season, let your gifts be a reflection of your love for the art and beauty of floristry. Whether for a friend, family member, or a treat for yourself, each item in our guide is chosen to celebrate and inspire the floral enthusiast in all of us. Happy gifting!

Gratefully,
Sue
